How We Compare - Storage Land vs the Brisbane Chains

Like-for-like comparison: ongoing monthly price for drive-up units in the 12 to 19 m² range.

Ongoing (non-introductory) monthly rates for drive-up units only, read from nationalstorage.com.au on 31 July 2026 with the Driveway Units filter applied, at their Salisbury, Richlands, Moorooka and Mansfield centres. Upper-level units reached by a goods lift are cheaper at every one of these centres, but they are not drive-up and are not a like-for-like comparison. Storage King does not publish rates - its online quote requires your name, phone number and email before it will show a price. Access hours are each centre’s standard hours; National Storage lists 24/7 access as available at extra cost at several southside sites. Always check the chain's current promo prices - "first month free" deals usually revert to standard rates after 1-3 months and standard rates are well above ours.

The catch the chains don't tell you about: their advertised "from" price usually applies to the smallest box (1.5 m² or less, the size of a hallway cupboard). The unit that actually fits a household-size move is 3-4x that price. Our $349 IS the household-size price.

Why We're Cheaper - And Why That's Not a Trick

Most self-storage operators sell purpose-built indoor units inside multi-storey buildings. That means lifts, climate control, foyer fit-outs, retail leases on busy roads - all of which add overhead that gets passed on to you in the monthly rate.

Storage Land is a dedicated container and vehicle yard on industrial-zoned land in Archerfield. We don't have lifts, foyers, or front-of-house staff. What we have: secure 24/7 access, sealed bitumen, perimeter fencing, individual keypad codes, CCTV, and 20ft shipping containers that hold more than most "medium" self-storage units. Same job, lower overheads, your savings.

What Cheap Storage IS And ISN'T at Storage Land

What you get for $349/mo: a 20ft (33 m³) weatherproof, secure container with drive-up access; 24/7 entry via keypad; CCTV-monitored sealed yard; no bond, no lock-in, just 30 days notice when you leave; 5.0 stars and 200+ Google reviews from real Brisbane tenants.
What we're NOT: we're not climate-controlled indoor self-storage. If you're storing artwork, sensitive electronics, or anything that needs aircon and dehumidification all year round, a chain's indoor unit is probably worth the extra $150-250/month. For furniture, household contents, tools, business stock, vehicles, boats, caravans - a Storage Land container does the job for much less.

Cheap Storage Brisbane - FAQs

What's the cheapest storage option in Brisbane?

For anything bigger than a few boxes, the cheapest dedicated storage in Brisbane is a shipping container yard on industrial land. Storage Land’s 20ft container is $349/mo, drive-up, with 24/7 access included. The nearest like-for-like at the chains is a drive-up unit at National Storage Salisbury: 13.5 m² for $442 a month, with access ending at 9pm. Their drive-up units on the southside run from $404 up past $800. You will see cheaper numbers advertised, but those are upper-level units you reach with a goods lift, and most are introductory rates that rise later. Storage King does not publish a price at all.

How does Storage Land manage to be cheaper than the chains?

Lower overheads. We're an industrial-zoned container and vehicle yard, not a multi-storey indoor self-storage building. No lifts, no foyer, no retail lease, no front-of-house team - just secure containers and bays on a sealed, fenced site with 24/7 access. We pass the savings on instead of charging for fittings you don't actually need.

Are there any hidden fees, bonds, or lock-in contracts?

None. The $349/mo (or $250 for a vehicle bay) is the only number that comes out of your account each month. No admin fee, no insurance markup, no setup cost, no security bond. Month-to-month, just 30 days notice when you're ready to leave.

Is cheap storage actually secure at Storage Land?

Yes. Fully fenced perimeter, keypad gate with individual access codes per tenant, CCTV across the yard, sealed bitumen. Every container has its own padlock - you hold the only key. We have 5.0 stars across 200+ Google reviews from real Brisbane tenants.

What can I fit in a 20ft container for $349/mo?

A 20ft container holds 33 cubic metres - roughly the contents of a 3-4 bedroom home including most furniture, appliances, beds, boxes, and bikes. Read our full guide on what fits in a 20ft container for exact dimensions.

Can I get even cheaper if I bring my own container?

Yes. If you already own a container, you can rent a hardstand spot on our sealed Archerfield yard: $270/mo for a 10ft, $349/mo for a 20ft, and $649/mo for a 40ft (by enquiry - we do not always have a 40ft spot open). See BYO container storage for details. If you don't own one, our leased 40ft at $650/mo gives you double the space of a 20ft - $325/mo per 20ft equivalent, the best value per cubic metre we offer.

Is there cheap storage near my suburb?

Almost certainly yes if you're on the south, southwest, or west side. We're 5-20 minutes from 40+ suburbs - see the full drive-time table or pick your suburb from the list above.

Do you have car or boat storage at the same low price?

Vehicle, boat, caravan, jet ski, and trailer bays are $250/mo - even cheaper than the container. See vehicle storage, boat storage, and caravan storage.

Can I access my storage 24/7?

Yes - every tenant gets a unique keypad code for 24/7, 365-day access. No reception hours, no waiting for staff to unlock anything. Drive in any time.

Can I look around before I commit?

Yes - turn up during business hours and ring 0452 043 647 (site manager Jason) and he'll walk you through. Or call 0452 043 647 / email info@storageland.au with any questions.
