The Robertson storage pattern
Robertson doesn't have the industrial churn of Rocklea or the student turnover of inner-city suburbs. What it has is a lot of homes that are being renovated, extended, or slowly bursting at the seams as families grow into them.
The streets around Mains Road, Nursery Road, and Broadwater Road are full of established Queenslanders and brick homes being upgraded - new kitchens, extra rooms, garage conversions. Every renovation project produces the same problem: where does everything go while the work happens?
Griffith University's Nathan campus is on Robertson's doorstep, which also means a steady flow of students who need somewhere to hold their belongings between semesters when they leave shared houses or head interstate.
Robertson doesn't sit right next to a self-storage facility. The nearest options are in Mount Gravatt or along Kessels Road toward Moorooka, and they're typically indoor units at a price premium. Our Archerfield facility is 12 minutes away - a bit further than some alternatives - but for the amount of space you get at $299/month, most Robertson customers find it's worth the drive.
Who we see from Robertson
Renovation households - The most common Robertson customer is someone mid-project. The kitchen is out, the laundry is being relocated, or the whole house is getting new floors. Everything from two rooms has to go somewhere. A 20ft container parked at our Archerfield yard holds it all, and you can pop back to get what you need without disrupting the site.
Families outgrowing their homes - Robertson homes often have smaller garages relative to how much a household accumulates over a decade. Sports equipment, camping gear, kids' bikes, a second car that won't fit anymore - a container or vehicle bay extends the space you have without moving house.
Griffith Uni students - End of second semester, lease is up, heading home to Sydney or regional Queensland for summer. Box everything up, store it for 3-4 months, and move back in next year without having to ship or sell your belongings.
People between homes - Robertson's property market is competitive. Families often sell before their next place settles. A container holds the contents of the whole house while you wait for settlement, far cheaper than a removalist holding fee.

What to expect during a renovation
A lot of Robertson customers book a container at the start of a renovation and access it throughout the project. You book online or call, and we can usually get you set up the same or next day. You load the container with the contents of the rooms being worked on. During the renovation, you come back as needed to get items - tools you stored, furniture pieces you want to check fit, boxes you need to unpack early. The container is yours to access 24/7.
When the renovation finishes, you give 30 days notice, move everything back, and cancel. No minimum term, no penalty for leaving early. The only thing Robertson customers sometimes need to plan around is the 12-minute drive - if you need something every single day, factor that in. If you're visiting weekly or less, it barely registers.
We've held a 5.0-star Google rating across 170+ reviews. Security, ease of access, and honest pricing are what customers mention most.
Questions Robertson customers ask us
We're renovating our bathroom and kitchen back-to-back over about four months. Can we access the container during the renovation to retrieve things as we need them?
Absolutely. The container is yours - 24/7 access with no restrictions or booking needed. Many renovation customers treat their container like an off-site spare room. You can pull items out, return things you don't need, and reorganise as the project progresses. Just drive over when you need something.
I'm a Griffith Uni student and my share house lease ends in November. Is a full 20ft container too big for one person's belongings?
It is quite large for one person - a 20ft container holds roughly the contents of a 2-3 bedroom house. If you have a friend or housemate in the same situation, sharing the container and splitting the $299/mo between you is common. You'd both have access with your own key copies. Alternatively, if you have 30-50 boxes and some furniture, you'll use maybe half the container - there's no penalty for not filling it.
We have three cars between four adults but only one garage in Robertson. Can a vehicle bay hold a regular passenger car?
Vehicle bays are suitable for any type of vehicle - passenger cars, SUVs, trailers, caravans, boats on trailers. $250/mo for a bay is often cheaper than a monthly council parking permit and more secure. The car is on sealed bitumen under CCTV.
12 minutes feels like a long drive. How do Robertson customers usually think about that?
The answer depends on how often you need access. Most people visit their storage unit less frequently than they expect - typically once or twice a month. On that pattern, 12 minutes each way adds up to about 48 minutes a month in the car, which most people find reasonable given they're paying significantly less per square metre than at a closer facility. If you need daily access, closer is better. If you're storing something for a season or a renovation period, the distance becomes irrelevant pretty quickly.
We're storing good timber furniture from our renovation. Will temperature and humidity in a metal container cause damage?
Containers are not climate-controlled. For most household furniture - sofas, beds, tables, wardrobes - the conditions inside a sealed container in Brisbane's climate are fine. The risk area is fine timber or antiques sensitive to humidity cycling. Our recommendation: use furniture blankets, keep a small moisture absorber inside, and keep wooden items off the container floor using a pallet. We have had no complaints about humidity damage from Robertson customers.
We have kayaks, a roof tent, and several bikes. Does container storage work for large outdoor and recreational gear?
Yes - this is one of the more practical uses for a 20ft container. Kayaks can be stood upright or laid flat, bikes hang on hooks or lean against the walls, bulky camping gear takes up less space than furniture. Gear like this is often the hardest to store at home because of its size and shape, and containers handle it well. Leave the gear clean and dry before storing.
